A Bacchanalian Summer it is! Much of the excitement in English Wine has centred around the classic Champagne varietals of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Deservedly so when you consider the quality of the traditional method sparkling wines coming from us at Chapel Down and some other leading producers. It has been an exhilarating couple of months here at Chapel Down since I last wrote and yesterday’s third year of sponsorship of the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race is a stand out highlight. To witness those supreme athletes battle it out on the water is inspiring enough, to see the victors then hold aloft our jeroboams on the winning podium absolutely brilliant! Agreement to Lease 388 acres of prime viticultural land

On September 6 2018 we proudly announced that we had exchanged on an Agreement to Lease 388 acres of prime viticultural land adjoining our existing vineyards on the North Downs. This site at Boarley and Abbey Farm in Boxley will be vined between 2019 and 2021 resulting in a total area under long-term leases of 788 acres. Once this site is planted, the total vined area from which we source our grapes – including owned land, land under long-term leases and contract supply – will exceed
